Well every once in a while you could send her flowers or a teddy bear or whetever she's into to show her that you still care. Then tell her that she's so important every now and then. When she asks you for advice, be honest with her because girls detect when a guy is lying. So just be honest, and tell her that you care for her

I have been in very bad relationships also, and not only that but have been badly sexually abused. I know what its like to come out feeling insecure.

just be yourself is the main thing really. Talk to her, tell her how you feel, Im sure she'll wanna help you if she cares about you a lot, and she'll help you to see that she wont be like that. and as for being a good boyfriend, listening to your girlfriend is crucial, it makes a girl feel like she's appreciated. also, little gifts can be nice, but remember you cant buy someone's love.

Here are some tips from me:

1) Avoid talking about your exes in front of your gf. Even if your ex was the love of your life, it's disrespectful. Only talk about her if your gf asks, dont bring her up randomly. My bf at the moment has a lot of stuff lying around from his ex ....like little notes and things from her. It makes me feel bad. Throw them out if you can, or if you want to keep it for sentimental purposes, hide them!!

2) Msg OR call her at least once a day. Every time my bf msgs or calls me, it always makes me smile because I know he's thinking of me. Even a little msg before you go to bed saying "sweet dreams" or a msg in the morning wishing her a good day =) And if you're worried about being too clingy, perhaps alternate the call and the msg. For example, one day call her before you go to bed and have a phone conversation and the next day msg but dont call

3) If you have a car, pick her up whenever you can. When you ask her out on a date or something, dont ask her to meet you at the destination go pick her up in front of her house and drop her off after =)

4) Again, if you have a car (and are a fairly good driver)...reach over and hold her hand while you're driving. This makes me warm and fuzzy inside

5) Compliment her. But be sincere in your compliments

6) CUDDLES and LOTS of them =) Oh and kisses on the forehead =)

7) ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS keep promises. Dont make promises you cant keep. If you promise to take her somewhere, DO IT. Dont lie. Be genuine and be faithful =)

Lastly, 9) HAVE FUN. Do silly things. Make lame jokes. Laugh together, laughter is the best medicine after all

If you are in a new relationship after a not so, shall we say emotionally healthy experience the most important thing to remember is that your new partner is not your old one. I mean to say; give them the benefit of the doubt look for the good in this person, place your trust in them unless they give compelling evidence that this is not a good idea. At the same time you have the benefit of experience and can tell when things are going in a direction you want to avoid. Be aware of what went wrong before in order to avoid it again. If you want to care for someone do exactly that, be genuine. Your insecurities are a result of a past relationship but don't necessarily need to dictate your future.

Good luck my friend.

well you should always pay attention when you gf is talking, after she is finished talking repeat some important things she said, that will mean alot to her because it shows that you were paying attention.
also don't tell her that you are coming to see her surprise her with some roses a teddy bear and a box of chocolates.
give her some breathing space and time with her friends because if you don't you will probably end up fighting because she needs time with her friends also.
there are many more things you could do for her just go on google and type in romantic things i can do for my gf, or whatever.
Hope i helped. good luck.

Caring about someones feelings is a start. empathy about situations is great. calling when u say you will and keeping that constant. don't be clingy just make sure they know u r not running around with others or not thinking about them. be simple and sweet not clingy and creeps> lol.little things like "how was ur day" work wonders... and just listening to their day is perfection...ask questions about their day and how they felt about what happens good luck
